Meet the Artist ~ Moonlight Jewel

What is your name?

Elisa aka Moonlight Jewel

Where are you from?

I'm from Germany.

Age?

I'm 29 years old.

How long have you been customizing?

For a little more than 3 years now.

What got you started?

I saw some videos of doll customs by Nicolles Dreams and since I was always dreaming about custom dolls or BJD's I found it an awesome way to start.

What types of customs do you do?

Everythings I like. From characters of Animes to completely own designe customs. I prefer making cute and sweet customs though.

What sorts of mediums do you use?

I use Mr. Super Clear, Faber Castell Polychromos, Pastels by Toisnon D'Or, pearlescent shimmers, acrylic paints, Revell Gloss varnish, sometimes doll lashes, super glue, elmer's glue, UV Gel and varnish, polymer clay, apoxie sculpt.

Are there any products you just can’t live without?

Mister Super Clear and pearlescent powders, haha!

What is your most favorite custom that you have made?

I think that is Charlotte from the Lolita Swap.

What is your least favorite custom that you have made?

Actually I don't have a least favourite because I spend so much time customizing dolls, that I love every single one of them, although some are maybe better, some not.

A lot of beginners get so frustrated when their customs don't come out the way they want them to, and often compare themselves to their favorite artists and give up. Can you show us your very first custom?

Sure.

What is the worst injury you’ve had from working on customs?

I think it was a tendinitis from rerooting, haha.

Who/What inspires you?

Everything, from nature, to japanese culture, to other doll artists. One of my favourite artists are Andreja from Nicolles Dreams, Katherine from dollightful, C_U_L_U_R, Mias Daydream and Raquel Clemente

What projects are you currently working on?

Some secret ones I can' reveal yet, haha. And my super Sailor Chibi Moon!

Do you have any odd habits while working on customs?

I'm the most chaotic person ever and my workplace is always a mess haha.

What types of art do you enjoy?

Every kind of!

Do you take commissions?

Not anymore.

Where can people see your work and contact you?

Do you have any favorite tips or tricks?

Don't give up if you feel you're not good enough. Practice is the key!
